lyrics
Warming yourself by the fire
Hum with the sound of the wire
Come to the front of the line
No, that’s not blood on my teeth
Just come in here off the street
Into the place where we eat
Proll, you’ll do it forever
You’ll soldier on and on
With a pocket of pills
Or whatever gets you by
Boy, you’re a hero to me
Working out equality
But why is it taking so long?
My mountain home
Leave us alone
Prolls, you’ll do it forever
You’ll soldier on and on
With a respirator
Or whatever gets you by
Is anybody still alive?
Am I alone in a cemetery or a video game?
With poison eyes all rolling over my spine
To be known
You say you never had much
But maybe you can give some if you want
"The One That Got Away" is stunning. I couldn't believe it wasn't a standard the first time I heard it. The type of song that seems to have always existed. joel

When I first heard Mercury, I had a hard time getting past the change in sound. Then I saw the band in '98 near Chicago at a reunion show, and everything made sense. After that show, Mercury became one of my favorite records of all time. HUMB shows what Mercury was intended to be, and it's raw, aggressively mixed, without the "arena" feel that Mercury has. The record sounds ahead of its time, honestly, and is a must-own for any TPC fan. A rare definitive statement from a groundbreaking band. djzachlorton
